StATS: Why it's impossible to keep a resume current (June 5, 2008).
I'm updating my resume and found an amusing coincidence. It serves as a cautionary statement to never make assumptions.
I did a Medline search for any publications in 2007 and 2008 to see if I had missed any recent publications of mine. Here is a reference that popped up.
I know two of these authors (Adams and Portnoy), but I can't quite remember what I did that contributed to this paper. It is only on the table of contents page that I notice that the S. Simon is actually Stacey Simon and not me. You wouldn't know this by looking at the medline link or the abstract.
By the way, you're not supposed to do this because it is an indication of vanity, but everyone does it anyway--look up your name on Google.
Apparently, I am a great photographer.
"Steve Simon's work continues to evolve and we, in turn, continue to be inspired by it. Heroines and Heroes is another visual milepost on the 25-year chronicle of the HIV-AIDS pandemic." www.stevesimonphoto.com/
I'm also a wonderful painter.
"Steve Simon - Painting the Spirit of Beautiful Places" www.stevesimon.com/
I have an amazing career in the entertainment industry.
"Steve Simon, former general counsel to rock group Boston, is executive vice president of Clear Channel Entertainment - Music, and the architect and director of its Instant Live and Developing Artist Program, now entering its second year." www.celebrityaccess.com/news/profile.html?id=198
I have a technical career at MATLAB.
"As part of the technical support staff, I answer questions. I have also contributed to the development of the Bioinformatics Toolbox, particularly the file I/O and graphics functions." www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/loadAuthor.do?objectId=914871&objectType=author
I'm the Assistant Majority Leader of the Minnesota House of Representatives, run a horse ranch in Marietta, OK, and write a blog on Florida Real Estate. Apparently I have a page on MySpace.com, but our hospital's email filter will not let me see it. Just as well.
If you allow different middle initials and an alternate spelling (Steven instead of Stephen), I am found on the Internet Movie Database. The list goes on and on.
This page was written by Steve Simon while working at Children's Mercy Hospital. Although I do not hold the copyright for this material, I am reproducing it here as a service, as it is no longer available on the Children's Mercy Hospital website. Need more information? I have a page with general help resources. You can also browse for pages similar to this one at Category: Professional details.
