One of the most common questions I hear is how to enter and analyze data from a two by two crosstabulation. It is not immediately obvious, especially to beginners, how to get started with this type of data. This is part 2 of a series of 6 handouts on this topic (view handouts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6). This is a two by two table, created in part 1 of this series.
The number in the upper left corner of the table (41) represents the number of patients in the smoking group and also in the defects group (see above).
The number in the lower left corner (132) represents non-smoking (No) and Defects (see above).
The number in the upper right corner (39) represents the number in smoking and control (see above).
The number in the lower right corner (100) represents No and Control (see above).
